The Balmoral Hotel’s afternoon teas are legendary, so what better way to celebrate your wedding than with an iconic afternoon tea with all your guests? Especially when everyone’s flown in from North America. Nora and Chris took it a step further and involved their guests in conducting the ceremony. Their guests acted as celebrant. It was perfect and so intimate and one or two tears were shed along the way.
We knew these two would be a lot of fun from time we’d spent with them online, but we hadn’t counted for the enthusiasm, generosity and warmth of their family and friends. We were made to feel like part of their family.
Thank you Mr and Mrs Curtis for letting us be part of your magical day… and for letting us take you on a mini Edinburgh adventure. We hope you always feel at home in Edinburgh and come to visit lots over the years.

Did you know the Balmoral Hotel was the very first place in Edinburgh that Blue Sky Photography photographed a wedding? True fact. All the way back in the giddy heights of 2003. And we love the hotel as much now as we did then. Truth is we probably love it even more. Because since then we have discovered so many hidden nooks and crannies. Since then we have photographed so many incredible events, from weddings for two, to parties for hundreds. And for each and ever one the Balmoral Hotel (and the fabulous team) delivers on style, substance and something special that you feel from the minute you push those gold revolving doors.

Katie and Michael’s Mansfield Traquair wedding was all about enjoying every single minute. Which was pretty easy as literally this pair walk into a room and bring the party.
Dundas Castle is always magical at the start of autumn. The trees are on the edge of turning and when you step inside the Castle the smell of the fires welcomes you. For Alice and Daniel September is also a pretty special month as it’s also the month they first met (at Glasgow University fresher’s week).
Beverley and Mark’s Drumtochty Castle wedding was personal and perfect from beginning to end. They had all their favourite people involved (from Stepdad Ross and his brother Charlie conducting the service through to friends playing the organ). Oh and one of the best surprises had to be Mark’s family serenading this pair (we will always think of you when we hear the song Alleluia )
